Dear Rescue Her Friends and Supporters,

I hope that you are all having a wonderful summer. Here at Rescue Her we have had a time of growth, the beginning of new projects, ideas and opportunities. I am very excited about what the future holds and I am so grateful that you are standing with us in the fight against human trafficking.

A few updates from our summer so far; We have started getting involved with the development of a program to help prevent the trafficking of young girls here in the Dallas area. As much as our heart is turned towards girls in Asia and other parts of the world, we must not forget to help those right in our own back yard. Domestic sex trafficking of minors has become a problem of epic proportions here in the USA, and Rescue Her is wanting to bring solution to this problem in every way we can. ZOE Coffee Club continues to grow. I will be travelling to visit our partner rescue home in Cambodia in November, and we are looking to take a team to minister at there in the spring of 2012. We had a great time at Celebrate Freedom, a Christian music Festival here in Dallas. We were super excited to have Dirk Nowitzki autograph two jerseys for Rescue Her to help us raise money.

Our partners SHE Rescue Home in Cambodia continues to pour LIFE and freedom into each girl that is given into their care. Every one is a miracle story of rescue and freedom. One of the most urgent needs for SHE right now is a new vehicle. We have committed to raise $10,000 for them to purchase a 4WD car that they need to get around the poor dirt roads in Cambodia. We have already given $1,000. Will you help us with the rest? We have started a Causes page, so help us by telling your friends. Let’s give these precious girls have a safe way to get around! Together we can do this!

Racing to Rescue

His voice echos, whispering to me in the night.

Rescue her.

It awakens something inside my heart that desires to act and be aware.

Rescue her.

He repeats it, sending the message deeper into my soul that there is a battle that must be fought... must be won.

Rescue her.

I say it to myself realizing that it's too big, too much, and I'm just one person... there is nothing I can do. But He disagrees.

You CAN rescue her.

What can I possibly do? The dark of my room seems to engulf me with doubt.

"No darkness is too dark for the light of our God."

I'm suddenly aware of my surroundings, what I have... and what she does not. She no longer has her nnocence. Her family has abandoned her. Her bed is a cage. And her heart knows no love. And the amount of money I spend on groceries every month could save her...

... Could rescue her.

I have been given a life of being more than just one person. I am one person, capable of doing.

I CAN rescue her.

I WILL rescue her.

And others will see that they too are more than just one person.... they are many, capable of doing more.

Capable of Rescuing Her.

Last week I shared about Rescue Her at ENMU Christian Campus House. I loved meeting all the young people there and see them get passionate about making changes in the world around them. Let it not be said about our generation that we stood silently by in a time when there were the most slaves in recorded history!

These kids not only heard what I had to say, but decided to do something about it. They are handing out flyers, putting up posters, selling wristband and shirts, writing essays, going around to local coffee shops to market ZOE Coffee. I am so proud of them!!!

I have been invited to speak about Rescue Her at "Girlfriends Behind the Veil" at Trinity Church in Cedar Hill, TX on July 16. If you live in the Dallas area, come on out. It is going to be an amazing event. "Behind the Veil" will bring awareness to difficult issues that are facing our generation. Sex trafficking is one of them. Awesome to see these things brought into the light with the heart to take action and BE the CHANGE! Can't wait to be a part!

We have had several great Rescue Her Events the past few weeks. Below are a few snapshots. People have really opened their hearts to hear about an issue that can be difficult to think about. I am touched by the compassion and desire to help that I see everywhere. I am grateful and honored to be given an opportunity to share what is on my heart and so blessed to see other grab ahold of the vision. Rescue Her really is about grass roots, everyday people that decide to make a difference. "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed, citizens can change the world. Meeting Anita

Dear Friends,

As I am writing this, my heart is full of emotion. I just got back from the Red Light Rescue's Evening of Hope where I got to meet two ladies from India that have been rescued from the Red Light District of Mumbai.

One of the women, Anita, is a lady with the sweetest smile and a spunky personality. When she began to tell her story, it was hard to listen; yet I hung on every word. Anita was taken from a farming village in Nepal where she worked hard on her parent’s farm. She was drugged and when she woke up she was in Mumbai’s Red Light District. She had never been alone with a man before, and was stunned and shocked at her surroundings. If you saw Slum Dog Millionaire, that doesn’t even come close to describing the conditions.

The details of her story are horrific. She was locked up in a windowless room for 3 years, and about 40-50 men would come rape and torture her daily. She was eventually let out, but by that time she was so broken that she stayed in the brothels. She knew nothing else. She couldn’t read or write. She ended up becoming a madam of 12 girls.

A preacher would come by and tell her God loved her and could restore her life. He offered to help her escape to a shelter and start a new life. She eventually went with him and she brought her ‘girls’ out with her. And Anita does have a new life. She is now a ‘mom’ to children that have been rescued from the Red Light District and come to the shelter. She loves life and she lives to rescue others just as she has been helped.

There are over 40,000 women in the 2 square mile area on Mumbai’s Red Light District held in slavery! Can you imagine? These women are treated worse than dogs, a lot of them are locked up in cages. They are trapped, and unless we help them there is no way to escape. The shelter that helped Anita has a waiting list of girls and children wanting to escape from their owners. They can’t help them all because of not having the funds to support taking care of them. That just shouldn't be! There are people in place ready to help; we need to make sure they have the resources to get the job done. That is our job... that is what you and I can do!

Anita said that she came to the US to tell her story so that people would know slavery is real and that these things truly happen, but also to say that there is hope so that people will want to help. I told her that she would be in my heart and I would tell other’s her story whenever I could.

Thank you for hearing the silenced cries of these girls in slavery. We need to be their voice and make sure they are not forgotten. The shelter in Mumbai is one of the places that Rescue Her donates money to. Because of your generosity other girls will have a chance at freedom just like Anita!
